What a month it’s been! As new life flourishes with the arrival of Spring, we’re thrilled by the possibility of a new life for the Columbia Hospital thanks to our collective voice for preservation. That’s me, MPA Executive Director Jeremy Ebersole, in the photo above with my beautiful new son Walden. Walden just joined us on December 29, and he’s reinvigorated my love of Milwaukee’s special places. I can’t wait to share the Domes, the Soldiers Home, and the countless buildings and neighborhoods around our city that make it so vibrant with him! To make sure that he and all the other future Milwaukeeans have a chance to enjoy these treasures, we have to keep working together to make our mission of “making preservation mainstream in Milwaukee” a reality. Please accept my deep gratitude to all our donors, members, friends and volunteers for making Milwaukee Preservation Alliance possible, and all that it is today. Much of MPA’s work is behind the scenes and not particularly visible. We spend time in meetings with decision makers, educating our community about the significant reasons our architectural heritage should be restored and our history preserved, including the significant economic and environmental benefits that accrue from using buildings that already exist. |
